THE MAN. THE MINISTRY. THE LEGACY.

The Glorious Legacy of a Word General

The Biography of Dr. Adamson Oyarekhua Aromaegbe (1957 – 2026)

Introduction: A Life Born for Purpose

Dr. Adamson Oyarekhua Aromaegbe was an erudite Minister of the Gospel, renowned Teacher of the Word of Faith, apostolic visionary, author, educator, prolific songwriter, father, and trailblazer. As Founder and Senior Pastor of The Rock Word Church and Dominion International, he devoted nearly four decades to preaching the undiluted Word of God, raising believers, mentoring leaders, and establishing strong, Word-based institutions for the advancement of the Gospel.

On the 21st of August, 2026, at the age of 69, this faithful servant of God finished his earthly assignment and triumphantly transitioned into the glorious presence of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.

CHAPTER 01 ROOTS & HERITAGE

Early Life, Heritage and Spiritual Rebirth

His early years in Ibadan and Auchi, and the call that redirected his path.

Dr. Adamson Oyarekhua Aromaegbe was born on May 22, 1957, in Ibadan, Oyo State, into the Muslim family of Mallam and Mrs. Salufu Ogbomofuegbe Aromaegbe of Okpekpe, in Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State.

At birth, he was given the name Adamu. However, following a life-transforming encounter with the Lord Jesus Christ and his subsequent conversion and baptism into the Christian faith, he joyfully adopted the name Adamson – a true reflection of a man who had become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17).

From his earliest years, he possessed a vibrant spirit, a love for music, and a deep passion for sports. Of all the games he played, Lawn Tennis remained his favourite, and he actively participated in it throughout his school days.

CHAPTER 02 EDUCATION & THE CALL

Educational Foundation and Divine Redirection

Dr. Adamson began his formal education at St. Vincent Catholic Primary School, Auchi, Edo State, between 1964 and 1969. A diligent and responsible pupil, he distinguished himself and served meritoriously as the Punctuality Prefect. He obtained his First School Leaving Certificate upon completion.

He proceeded to Our Lady of Fatima College, Auchi (now in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State), from 1971 to 1975, where he successfully obtained his West African School Certificate (WAEC).

After secondary school, he received a teaching appointment with the Etsako Local Government Council and served as a primary school teacher in Fugar from 1976 to 1977. In 1978, he gained admission into The Polytechnic, Ibadan, to further his education. While still studying at the Polytechnic, he gained admission into the University of Calabar to study Law.

However, while in 200 Level, the Lord unmistakably called him into full-time ministry. Out of total obedience to God, he made the bold and sacrificial decision to withdraw from his university education to answer the divine call upon his life – a decision that would ultimately impact millions for the Kingdom of God.

CHAPTER 03 MENTORSHIP & MINISTRY

A Season of Preparation: Mentorship and Itinerant Ministry

Following his call into full-time ministry, Dr. Adamson did not rush into the spotlight; he first submitted himself to a season of learning, service, and preparation. In the 1980s, he served under the apostolic covering of Bishop David Oyedepo at the Living Faith Church (Winners' Chapel) in Kaduna. It was during this formative season that Bishop Oyedepo, who remained his lifelong spiritual father, ordained him into the ministry.

This period deeply sharpened Dr. Adamson's understanding of the Word of Faith and ingrained in him the discipline, consecration, and sacrifice that true ministry demands. After a fruitful season of service, he stepped out by the Spirit to fulfill his own apostolic mandate, transitioning into an itinerant ministry of the Word. Based in Benin City, he travelled widely to preach and teach in churches, fellowships, and conferences. Those years on the field became his proving ground; it was in the crucible of itinerant service that the Lord refined his teaching gift, tested his faithfulness, and prepared him for the assignment that awaited him in Port Harcourt.

The profound father-son bond between Dr. Adamson and Bishop Oyedepo remained unbroken. In the early days of The Rock Word Church in Port Harcourt, Bishop Oyedepo would graciously minister at the church whenever his schedule brought him to the city—a beautiful testament to their enduring spiritual covering and mutual honor.

The Vision and Birth of The Rock Word Church

In 1989, Dr. Adamson travelled from Benin City to Port Harcourt as a guest minister at the invitation of Pastor Seni Tamunowari of Faith Christian Fellowship. It was during this visit that he had a profound encounter with God.

The Lord clearly instructed him to plant a church in Port Harcourt with the mandate of teaching the Word of God and laying a solid, unshakeable Word foundation in the lives of His people. In that same encounter, God gave him the name The Rock Word Church, drawn from the words of Jesus Christ in Matthew 16:18: "Upon this rock I will build My church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it."

The "Rock" represents the revealed truths of the Word of God. Also, in that divine encounter, the Lord connected him with Dr. Catherine Ginikanwa Okpareke (FCA, mni) to work alongside him as his Associate in ministry.

In swift obedience, Dr. Adamson remained in Port Harcourt and, together with Dr. Okpareke, began preparations for the work. A few weeks later, The Rock Word Church was inaugurated at the Cinema Hall of Hotel Presidential, Port Harcourt, with Bishop Agyin Asare and Rev. Emiko Amotsuka as officiating Ministers. Three years later, in 1992, the ministry relocated to its permanent site at Elelenwo, Port Harcourt, where it grew into one of the most influential Bible-teaching ministries of its time.

CHAPTER 05 MARRIAGE & FAMILY

Marital Life and Family

In the year 2000, Dr. Adamson entered a significant and joyful chapter of his personal life and ministry when he got married to Miss Jasmine Chinwe Onyemelukwe, an accountant from Nnewi, Anambra State, and daughter to the late Prof. Josiah Onyemelukwe.

A woman of profound intellect, virtue, and spiritual depth, Rev. Jasmine became his devoted partner, trusted confidante, and pillar of support throughout their shared journey in life and ministry. Their union was built on love, mutual respect, and dedicated service to the Kingdom of God, and they were blessed with three children: Evangelyn, Jason, and Theodore.

CHAPTER 06 FAITH, TEACHING & EXCELLENCE

A Trailblazer of Excellence, a Teacher of the Word of Faith and an Author

The teacher, the writer and the apostle of faith and excellence.

Dr. Adamson was a consummate Man of God, a shepherd at heart, a father to many, and a Teacher par Excellence. He taught the Scriptures with rare depth, clarity, wisdom, and precision, ministering strictly by the pattern of Isaiah 28:10: "Precept upon precept, precept upon precept, line upon line, line upon line, here a little, and there a little."

Through his anointed teaching ministry, he raised and nurtured a strong and formidable army of Word Soldiers, many of whom have gone on to become pastors, teachers, leaders, and ministers of the Gospel across the nations. He also taught believers the power of prayer, raising a generation of diligent and effective intercessors.

Beyond the pulpit, Dr. Adamson was a gifted writer and a faithful teacher of the Word of Faith. As a minister committed to helping believers build unshakeable faith in God and in His Word, he authored the timeless faith-building book, Overcoming Doubt. This powerful book has strengthened, encouraged, and built faith in countless believers and has blessed lives around the globe, helping multitudes to rise above doubt, fear, and unbelief and confidently stand on the integrity of God's Word. Through its pages, his teaching ministry continues to reach and transform lives even beyond his earthly ministry.

Above all, Dr. Adamson believed that quality and excellence are expressions of true worship unto God. For this reason, he set an unprecedented standard of excellence in the Church. At a time when many ministries met in halls, tents, or warehouses, The Rock Word Church began her journey in the air-conditioned, carpeted, and luxuriously furnished Cinema Hall of Hotel Presidential – Port Harcourt's foremost five-star hotel. When her permanent sanctuary was later built at Elelenwo, it was designed and built to the same high standard of excellence, with marble finishes, aluminum doors and windows, and plush cushioned seating.

He also modelled a culture of godly dignity and excellence in appearance, teaching believers to honour God not only in their hearts, but also in how they presented themselves before Him.

A true home-grown Word of Faith giant, Dr. Adamson stood firmly in the rich heritage of faith taught by men such as Kenneth E. Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, E. W. Kenyon, and Frederick K. C. Price, yet with a unique mantle and grace that was distinctly his own.

One of the hallmarks of his ministry was the monthly power-packed programme, EXPERIENCE IT, which brought together some of the finest ministers and gospel artistes from Nigeria and across the world for times of revival, faith, worship, and the teaching of God's Word.

CHAPTER 07 RADIO, TELEVISION & KINGDOM SOUND

Media Breakthroughs and the Gospel Music Renaissance

With a prophetic foresight of the end-time mandate to reach the world with the Gospel, Dr. Adamson embraced Christian media as a vital tool for evangelism.

In 1996, he pioneered his radio ministry with A Sound From Heaven, a fifteen-minute faith-building broadcast designed to "speak faith to your spirit and hope to your life." The programme was later rebranded as Power to Excel, with the mandate to "challenge your thinking, build your faith, and unlock your God-given potential." Over the years, it has aired on Broadcasting Corporation of Abia, Treasure FM Port Harcourt, Super FM Port Harcourt, Cool FM Lagos, and other platforms, including Spotify, touching and transforming millions of lives.

In 2010, he launched his television ministry, Healing Presence Today – a programme that blends powerful teaching of God's Word, inspiring worship music, and faith for divine healing, enabling viewers to experience the healing presence of Jesus Christ wherever they may be. The program first aired on Silverbird Television and later on cable networks including CTL, Omega Channel, and Bishop Agyin Asare’s Precious TV, Ghana, reaching audiences across several nations.

Dr. Adamson, a guitarist and a prolific songwriter himself, also pioneered a new and revolutionary sound in Nigerian gospel music. Through Rock Word Music, under the visionary leadership of his Music Director and Producer, Nnamdy (King Buskie) Echezona, the studio produced some of Nigeria's most iconic gospel artistes. Many of these artistes rose to national and international acclaim, including Asu Ekiye (Wo Ekilemo), the late Kefee (Branama), Ibiso Edwards (Anikpakabara), Tonye Josiah (Seki Siki), Ebiere (Yekileme), and many others.

At the heart of this musical revival was the church choir, Double Edge, which later became Army of David. Renowned for excellence, skill, worship, and creativity, the choir hosted the highly celebrated urban gospel concert series, Good Morning Port Harcourt. Over the years, they released several anointed albums, including:

  • Under the Shadow – Double Edge (1997)
  • Soaring High – Double Edge (1999)
  • 2 Him – Army of David (2003)
  • Spring Melodies – Jazzhood (2006)
  • Healing Presence Today Songs Collection – Army of David (2014)
  • A Sound From Heaven – Army of David (2026)

All of these albums are currently available on Spotify, Apple Music, and other digital music streaming platforms.

CHAPTER 08 EDUCATION & OUTREACH

Holistic Ministry: Education, Youth Empowerment, Compassion and Outreach

The academy, youth initiatives and humanitarian outreach.

True to his belief that the Gospel must reach the total man – spirit, soul, and body – Dr. Adamson championed a holistic ministry that combined the Word of God with education, creativity, compassion, and practical love.

In 1995, he obeyed the Lord's leading to establish The Rock Word Christian School. This divine step of obedience was further strengthened after his encounter with Dr. Creflo Dollar in Ghana, when Dr. Dollar said to him, “If you will not educate the children, the world will.” Classes began on 26th September 1995 with eight pupils, two staff members, and Mrs. Regina Udok as founding Principal. From its early days under the management oversight of Rev. Jasmine Aromaegbe — who midwifed the development of the school's up-to-date infrastructure before handing over to the current leadership of Rev. Chinedu Osonma — the school has consistently raised generations that are godly, excellent, and purpose-driven. Through scholarships, mentorship, academic excellence boot camps, and partnership with the Christian Students Network, countless children and youths have been equipped to grow “in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man” (Luke 2:52).

In 2015, he birthed Jaszhouse, an initiative directed by Rev. Jasmine Aromaegbe. Jaszhouse was established to raise, mentor, train, and spiritually nurture gifted teenagers and young people with a passion for the creative and entertainment industry. Its goal is to help them discover their God-given purpose, develop their talents, acquire relevant industry skills, build sustainable careers, and propagate the values of Christ through music, media, arts, and creative expressions.

Driven by his conviction of preaching "the Bible in one hand and bread in the other," Dr. Adamson founded Love Outreach – an annual humanitarian initiative that provides free medical care, food supplies, and financial assistance to the poor, widows, orphans, and the less privileged in society.

He also established the annual MANIFEST Word Conference, a powerful gathering that brings together ministers from the five-fold ministry for the equipping, edification, unity, and maturity of the Body of Christ in preparation for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11–13).

CHAPTER 09 FAMILY, CHURCH & GENERATIONS

A Global Ministry and a Lasting Legacy

A life of ministry remembered by his family, church, and those he raised.

Dr. Adamson Oyarekhua Aromaegbe carried a strong apostolic and teaching grace that extended far beyond Nigeria. He travelled extensively across Nigeria, Africa, India, the Middle East, and Europe, preaching the undiluted Word of Faith, teaching sound doctrine, raising leaders, and ministering the saving, delivering, and healing power of Jesus Christ to the nations.

Affectionately known to many as "DAD", he was more than a pastor – he was a spiritual father, a mentor, a role model, and a covering to countless sons, daughters, ministers, and families around the world. He lived a life of prayer, faith, love, humility, and uncompromising excellence.

He built people. He built leaders. He built families. He built ministries. And he built lasting institutions that will continue to preserve and propagate the message of faith in the Word of God for generations yet unborn. In recognition of his work, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Humanities by MC University, Bangalore in 1993.

His spoken words built faith. His written word, particularly Overcoming Doubt, continues to build faith. And the legacy he left behind will continue to speak long after his departure.
